Why did Bridgescale invest in IronKey?

IronKey provides absolute security in mobile environments at a time when cyber crime is rising. Experts at the World Economic Forum recently estimated that online theft — including bank and credit card theft, tricking people to pay for non-existent goods and services, and the stealing of personal information — costs $1 trillion a year.

Despite the risk, mobile workers have an unprecedented need to remotely access confidential information from the road. IronKey provides a new level of client-side security with a next-generation USB-based security platform that not only protects mobile data, but creates secure, trusted access.

Many organizations, particularly financial institutions and government agencies, use secure USB drives. Trouble is, these drives are vulnerable to hacking and infiltration. IronKey has created a hack-proof, secure USB drive that requires real-time network authentication before a user gets access to data. IronKey also offers a management platform that organizations can use to monitor the use of secure USB drives. The platform can be used to deny access centrally if necessary when an employee leaves the company or is deemed unauthorized to access the organization’s data.

Ironkey’s secure USB drive also employs client-side virtualization. Users can boot a separate, virtualized session of a secure computing environment straight from a flash drive.  That session is completely secure, impervious to any malware or attacks.

IronKey has tremendous traction on the client side of this emerging space. We are particularly excited to find new mobile-phone opportunities for this innovative company.
